Biografia:<\/strong><\/p>\n

Carlos Lopes w<\/em>as born in Cape Verde Islands, Son of Rosinha de nha Guida and Eduardo Jo\u00e3o Xalino also, a noted Capeverdean singer and guitarist. With the inspiration of Ildo Lobo and Bana; following in his father\u2019s footsteps, Cal\u00fa Bana began singing at an early age and was introduced to the music world while still in his early teens. Selected to appear in the First Annual All Star Singing Contest (Tudo Mundo Canta). Cal\u00fa Bana won that first competition and was on his way, taking with him his new nickname and critical acclaim.<\/em>In 1989, Cal\u00fa Bana won his second All Star singing contest.<\/em><\/p>\n

\u00a0In 1991 Cal\u00fa Bana became the lead singer of the Ice band. The band would release its first recorded CD \u201cMulata\u201d written and composed by Cal\u00fa Bana himself.<\/em><\/p>\n

\u00a0In 1994, Calu Bana joined Os Pecos Band and released 2nd cd \u201cCabo Verde Di N\u00f3s\u201d, Cal\u00fa Bana sang lead on three tracks, \u201cFenandinha\u201d being one of the tracks written and composed by Calu Bana.<\/em><\/p>\n

1996 found Cal\u00fa Bana collaborating with his friend Gau Salgado on the popular album \u201cSenten\u00e7a\u201d, with Cal\u00fa Bana recording his first hit \u201cSonhe Realizode\u201d.
\nIn 1997 Cal\u00fa Bana, joined forces with music producer Manny Rodrigues of MR Productions to record his first solo CD, \u201cPescador\u201d.<\/em><\/span><\/em><\/p>\n

\u00a0In 1999 Calu Bana recorded his second solo effort \u201cCalor d\u2019um Amor\u201d, another hit, also produced by Manny Rodrigues. Calu Bana would also be on his first trip back to his homeland of Praia Cape Verde to participate in his first Musical Festival after he immigrated to USA in 1990.<\/em><\/p>\n

\u00a0In 2000 Calu Bana would embark on his first tour to Paris France, and Holland in promotion of his success with Calor d\u2019um Amor release.<\/em><\/p>\n

In 2001 Cal\u00fa Bana produced and released \u201cRainha de nha Tronu\u201d. He also recorded \u201cCriolinha\u201d, which can be found on the \u201cDJ Djelas\u201d CD produced by Pedro (Peter) from Musicom in Pawtucket, R.I.<\/em><\/p>\n

\u00a0In 2002 Calu Bana collaborated with his friend Pulonga Bita and Grace Evora recording Nha Maninha, which can also be found on \u201cAmor Fabricado\u201d CD.<\/em><\/p>\n

\u00a0In 2003 Cal\u00fa Bana produced and released \u201cAmor Fabricado\u201d.<\/em><\/p>\n

2004 Cal\u00fa Bana participated in two different compilations \u201cAfrodance\u201d Vol1 and \u201cBlast\u201d recording \u201cBo Inganam\u201d, written by Kalu Monteiro and To Rodrigues and \u201cMilu\u201d written by Calu Bana himself.<\/em><\/p>\n

2005 Calu Bana toured to Gottenburg, Sweeden joining his cousin Val Xalino, for a concert.<\/em>\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n

2006 Calu Bana released Nha Terra Nha Kretcheu Capeverdean root selections arranged by Russian symphony Orchestrator Gregory Ayriyan, and Cesar Lima.<\/em><\/p>\n

2011 Calu Bana recorded 1 song Funana Ka\u00e7u \u201cbody\u201d Produced by Rui Tenis currently in production.<\/em><\/p>\n

2013 Calu Bana is currently working on two projects \u201c Minino di Tchada\u201d at Timmy\u2019s Studio.\u00a0 This album has a collaboration of Djejas, Juka di Santome, Galvao, \u00a0Tchatchi, Vargas, Kimberly, Galvao, Feel Base, and Timmy.\u00a0 And, a morna\u00a0 project \u201cCalu Bana canta Manel D\u2019Novas\u201d\u00a0 orchestrated by Dany Carvalho.<\/em>\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n

Cal\u00fa Bana, Carlos Matos, Djim Djob, and Kalu Monteiro are currently pending production on an all acoustic cd, Showcasing Capeverdean root selections.<\/em><\/p>\n

Calu Bana also along his musical career participated in Festival de Baia das Gatas, Gamboa, Santa Maria, e Assomada.<\/em><\/p>\n

Calu Bana has also collaborated with fellow singers and musicians\u00a0 like: Zeca Nha Reinalda, Norberto Tavares, Kim Alves, Carlos Matos, \u00a0Antero Simas, Vuca Pinheiro, Grace Evora, Gau Salgado, \u00a0Bordot, Raymond Santos, Timmy, Ded<\/em>\u00e9, Djedj<\/em>e Rapper , Xandinho Dog, Galvao, , Djosinha, Dina Medina, Milena Tavares, Pulonga Bita,\u00a0 To Rodrigues, Djedjas, Djuta Barros, Maria de Barros, Izidora, Vargas,, \u00a0Joao Cerilo Noah Andrade and many more.<\/em><\/p>\n

“Diverse” is the word to describe Calu Bana, though he mostly dedicates to his profession as a Computer Engineer, Calu Bana still finds the time to Devote to charitable events. He loves to entertain young folks with Kola Zouk, but his passion is his Cape Verdean roots of morna, coladera, batuku and funana.<\/em><\/p>\n
